Prices may vary according to the complexity of the subject matter. Prices are for a plain/mottled background, if you would like a detailed background, this normally increases the price by double, (depending on the detail) as the time taken to paint the backgroundin detail is timely. Once the photographs are received, and medium and size are decided, I can begin your drawing or painting. I will be in touch with you during this time sending your work at various stages of completion. At this time a retainer of 25% of the payment is required. The remaining amount is to be paid once the painting is finished and the client is happy.
Here are a few tips for taking great photographs for your commissioned artwork:
Personality: The most important quality to capture on camera for your pet portrait is your pets personality. Try and get a photograph of your pet doing what he loves to do most; a photograph capturing their spirit; so you'll have this memory of for years to come.
Positioning: A view from your pet's level works the best. You may need to lay on the ground to get the perfect shot; but try and get the most natural pose possible. An angled view works great, and try to get many detailed photographs of your pets face. I like to work from a variety of shots, and can piece together your favorite photographs to make the perfect portrait. Also, If someone needs to hold your pet in position, don't worry I will take them out of the portrait, as well as hands, etc. that may have gotten into the picture.
Lighting: Try and use as much natural light as possible; by a window, or outside if it's possible! Natural lighted photographs allow a great amount of detail, and the colors are more true to life! A bright or slightly overcast day is best.
If you would like to have me come and take photographs for you I would be happy to drive to your location, I charge $25 due to high gas prices to locations within a 75 mile radius. For distances of up to 150 miles, please email me.
